Truss Jibs - Truss jib's can be utilized in order to carry, move and position trusses. The attachment is designed to function as an extended jib additional part along with a triangular or pyramid shaped frame. Usually, truss jibs are mounted on machinery such as a compact telehandler, a skid steer loader or even a forklift using a quick-coupler accessory.
Older cranes have deep triangular truss jibs which are assembled from standard open structural shapes that are fastened using bolts or rivets. On these style jibs, there are few if any welds. Every riveted or bolted joint is prone to rusting and thus needs regular maintenance and inspection.
Truss jibs are designed with a back-to-back collection of lacing members separated by the width of the flange thickness of an additional structural member. This particular design could cause narrow separation between the smooth surfaces of the lacings. There is limited access and little room to preserve and clean them against rust. Lots of bolts loosen and corrode in their bores and should be changed.
